Abstract
Plasmonics have lots of applications from the improvement of photovoltaic devices to the Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Light can also be confined in spaces much smaller than its wavelength, like the interstices between several silica beads of an opal, increasing at the same time the electronic density of states of a system. This modification can be useful to play on the excitation or emission of nanoemitters if they are themselves in the area containing the confined light.
