Coloured effects

Nanostructures found in nature have typical sizes from 50 to 100 nm and one of their functions is to produce coloured effects. We name them the “physical colours” to contrast with the “chemical colours” which are produced by pigments. Photonic natural nanostructures sometimes generate too circular and linear polarized light or UV. These constitute thus a very interesting inspiration model for our own optical devices or cosmetics.
